so based on the advice of ppl in my other thread I'm going to get a new harddrive.
I have a laptop. What do I want to look for b/c I see 7200rpm drives with 200gb for $75 and 80gb ones for $200. If they're both 7200 rpm what's the difference?

Also is there a way to clone my current hd so all I have to do is plug the new one in and go

I just reformatted so I'd just be looking for a way to avoid reinstalling windows and drivers etc

Get that, I have one of those, and it's really nice. Not too expensive (Well, I got it for free with my lappy, love you, max), great performance and very quick shock protection response. A little noisy (Not a lot, you hear a little whrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr if you put your ear 5cm away), but it's nothing that'll be noticeable. It does get pretty warm, but it's not a killer, either. I didn't notice any change in battery time when I exchanged it for an 80GB 5400RPM drive I have here.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
