For some reason I can't get VoIP to work within BF2, and i was hoping some of you guys could help.

I'm using a crappy £5 headset with a Creative Xfi Fatal1ty soundcard, and everything works fine, except that nobody else can hear me speak when i use the VoIP feature.  I can hear other people, and I can use exactly the same headset fine with skype or windows sound recorder, but in BF2 theres nothing.  I've tried the microphone test in the options screen, but nothing happens there either.  The grey bar stays static (I don't even know if its supposed to do anything!).

Are there any settings I might have missed that I should try?

In the sound test for bf2 mic,
1 - put the slider down to the bottom, it will make it more sensative
2 - make sure your pressing the right key for the mic in BF2 (check control settings for the button)
3 - check to see if voip is enabled on that server.

Are you using the mic in the primary mic port on the back of the computer.  BF2 does not recognize mic inputs that come from secondary mic jacks, example: jacks on the front of your computer when there are also jacks on the back.

BF2 just started supporting USB mics on the last patch but as far as 3.5mm jack headsets, its a no go on front jack ports.  Try plugging your mic into the backside jacks if and that should get it.

If you already have them plugged into the back side then go to your control panel and sound/audio settings.  Make sure voice recorder and mic inputs are all pointing to the jack it is plugged into and check the volume.
