Ok. so finally the time has come... i order my parts in 3-4 days.

However im re-thinking case options at the moment.

so... its summer here in Australia, and bloody hot (no surprise) so im getting e8400, P5W pro, 4gb 1066 RAM, 750 GB HDD, 650w Antec True power, Scythe Ninja 2 CPU cooler and Ati 4870

i will be overclocking the e8400 (and mabye the 4870)... so i will need good cooling (dont want water cooling)

so which case should i choose for best cooling performance. ive narrowed it down to 3... each has its pros and cons (design, fans, price)
Ive been mainly thinking of the P182 however if i got the cheaper 900 i could buy better RAM....

but if u have other case options i'd like to here them to.
Cant be more than around $250 AUD.

Soo..... vote away plz.

P182. Looks great, isn't flashy, awesome interior design, great cooling and is inaudible when silenced. The 900 is terribly overrated, has a bad interior design. Especially the cable management is shit. The 1200 is just a big version of the 900.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

definately.

And you definately don't need an extra fan. I removed all the fans, sealed off the top hole and put a 12V 120mm Nexus as intake, and 7V 120mm nexus exhaust. CPU idles at around 55*, with a Zalman 9700 @ 7V.

The intake is only at that speed as a lame attempt to keep the GPU fan down - I haven't got my hands on an Accelero S1 yet. With the Ninja and an Accelero S1, you should be able to silence it pretty good.

Lol, I make do with a generic case.

And my 4850 still runs at 29 degrees (celcius).

*The CPU doesn't though - it runs at something ridiculously high.

I think I've asked this before, but what's the length of a 4870?

GTX280's are a squeeze in a P182 (one is ok, more than one and you need to remove one of the HDD cages), dunno 'bout the 4870...

4870 isnt as long as the GTX 280. also i am putting my harddrive/s in the bottom  harddrive cage (near PSU) so its no problem for me to take top harddrive cage out anyway.

Then you will adore the P182.

Jens is no fetishist.

It really is a very nice case.

What's wrong with getting a $20 case and a $150 dremel? That gives a lot of fun, a very useful tool, and a unique case.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yeah... ive dremeled up a couple of cases.. its fun.. Id rather use a angle grider with a cut off disk though, for the big cuts. I seem to go through way to many of those dremel cut off disks.

I know, I wasted five on making 1.5 120mm fan holes on my light alu case.

I find going slow and doing multiple pases dosent grind them down as fast... plus i seem to get straighter cuts that way.
