USB Device of current status detected

Specs:

Asus Rampage Formula X48
C2Q Q9450
HD3870X2 1GB
4GB of OCZ reaper 1066 MHz RAM

So Far I've trued resetting the CMOS, and that didn't do anything.

All I did was put in my sony ericcson usb cable for my phone this morning while booting, and it gave me tat message, everything was working yesterday.

Try disabling USB legacy support in BIOS

it says that when the power to the CMOS is cut off. somewhere it should say "load defaults" or something like that. select that and it should boot with the default settings.

I can't get into the BIOS, and i sort of panicing now.

Ive removed the battery twice, and used the Clr CMOS button.

Neither work.

What do i do.

Well, I guess I can't help you then, I'm sorry.

For the pros out there it might be helpful to know what the screen says exactly when you press the power button (or if it makes any beeps).

I don't know if you already solved the problem, but here are a few more things you could try:

if the message CMOS-checksum bad appeares, try pressing F1. for some mainboards this is the command to start booting with default settings.

make sure the battery is put in correctly (+ and -) and make sure the contact is really touching the battery

There sometimes is a thing called Jumper next to the battery, which does the same as the small button you said you pressed. Did you do anything with that jumper?

try a new battery

what happened to my old PC was that there was a microscopic crack on the mainboard near the BIOS-chip. It now only works when I push and pull the mainboard a little bit before booting.

Well I couldn't access the BIOS.

And the CMOS CLR button wouldn't work.

So .Sup (<3) told me to remove the CMOS Battery, and i put it back the next day, and I could finally get in.

Thx guys (even though i barely got any help )

Why didn't you just short the connectors?

Or is that only for my motherboard?

"Check all USB jumpers

I just assembled a system with a ASUS P5K-VM board, and when I first booted it, I got the "USB Device Over Current Status Detected !!" error. After 2.5 hours of trying everything, I noticed a blue jumper lying in the box the board came in. The jumper was used to select if the USB-port is on when the PC is off. When I connected the jumper, the system worked."

jumpers are too tricky for my big thumbs to deal with, i just stick to cycling the battery
