8 cores(4+HT=8) and it's true quad-core. Plus it puts the memory controller on the processor itself so it has way faster RAM transfer times. It also allows triple-channel DDR3 usage.

Yeah if the processor itself doesn't stop you, the X58 will. And even after buying both, you'll probably still need to get overly expensive DDR3 RAM.
