Everyone makes mistakes and he shouldnt be fully blamed for what happened there.

He should not go to prison or have that rediculous fine demanded of him.

I mean, i know alot of acres of land has been destroyed and he probably didnt mean it, how can they justify that kind of punishment?

so...this new fire was apparently started by young people having a bonfire.

what should happen to them?
they should replant all the trees... and rebuild all the houses they damaged... and not be able to text message any friends for 10 years...  ouch

seriously though... they should pass a law that during these dry seasons that campfires or any type of fire is strictly prohibited...
and if the person is caught it is mandatory 30 years in jail...  there has to be stiff penalties so even the tards think twice....
You don't have fire bans already?

Also, many species of plants actually need fire to germinate, so controlled burning is often a good thing for nature.

Cause mothers always say "Don't play with matches", and obviously he disobeyed. So because he's slightly old to get spanked he needs a grown up punishment

Asylum makes a lot of sense as a homeless person, I'd figure.

how do they expect him to pay that seeing how he'll only make like .20 day in prison or something like that. And yes sending a homeless person to prison, where he'll get free room and board and food and free medical care for the rest of his life possibly does really seam like punishment.

People get like 429 years in American prison. So this is nothing massively new.

LOS ANGELES — A homeless man has been sentenced to 45 months in prison and ordered to pay more than $101 million in restitution for starting two fires, including a 2006 blaze that burned more than 163,000 acres in Los Padres National Forest.

U.S. District Judge Valerie Baker Fairbank sentenced 50-year-old Steven Emory Butcher on Monday for felony and misdemeanor charges related to the blazes.

Butcher was convicted in February of starting the fire by burning debris at his campsite in Piru Canyon as well as the smaller Ellis Fire in the same forest in 2002.

The Los Padres forest fire cost more than $78 million to suppress. It injured 18 people and destroyed 11 structures.

Typical Cali idiocy.
