what's the best way to install one myself?
You don't.
Well, you can, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Ask Freezer - he's bound to do that kind of thing on a daily basis...
If freezer can install a GPU temperature diode then he has mad respect from me.
1. Disassemble GPU & clean
2. Place on sensor on GPU
3. Slap on thermal paste
4. Install heatsink
5. Wonder why your temps went up
Sensors that are placed on the gpu itself are a bad idea since they insulate, fuck up the HSF mount and might crack the die.
Sensors that are placed on the heatsink won't read read anywhere near the real temp and are generally useless.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
