Ok. so basically i cant open steam at all. thats the problem lol.


tried opening from rocketdock, desktop, start menu, steam folder.... nothing... checked processes and its not running at all.

sooo.... any ideas short of reinstalling (cuz i would have to install all my games again? amirite)

Reinstall. You shouldn't have to reinstall all your games as long as you don't choose to delete the game folders. If you fear doing so, just copy and paste them to your documents folder or something.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. I Don't care how long it takes and how Vista is a slow bitch, if you want to play on Steam, then do it.

No, your OP just didn't mention that you rebooted, and I meant that every time I consider rebooting, I ALWAYS hesitate and think of how long it'll take and how bored I'll be in the 10 minutes it takes.

I can boot Vista in ~1min.
Sad thing is, it's been last reformatted in late August, ~6 months.

I run my computer with a disposable aspect in mind, I understand how to avoid viruses and do, I run CCleaner often, run Anti-Vir checks weekly, but at the same time, I pretty much always download all the little tools that help out. Because I know, that in 6 months, I'm just going to nuke and reinstall.

Having to reinstall Adobe stuff and BF2 is always a bitch though.

And 10 minutes is a pretty big exaggeration, it takes maybe 3 to get to a usable state, and 5 for it to 100% load and go idle.
