Heikki Kovalainen will do well this season, Webber most likely won't race - he was airlifted to hospital y'day.

Not a fan of the new cars so far - esp BMW

oh and KERS will be a bitch, rumour has it only toyota have made it work properly, when BMW tried they had a massive fire.

OOH and Mark Webber has broken his leg and probably also his arm.
he was hit by a car when he was riding a dirt bike.

I hope he will be fit for the start of the season

New Qualifying Format?

The Formula One Teams' Association, FOTA, will discuss a new qualifying format for the sport when the body meets next month.

FOTA is looking to spice up qualifying, currently divided in three sessions, two of them including a knockout system.

The new idea to be looked at consists of all cars jumping onto the track at the same time and with the same amount of fuel, with the slowest driver being eliminated after each lap.

After 14 laps, the six fastest drivers would then fight for pole position, fitting new tyres but still using the same amount of fuel.

The proposal might even include a championship point for pole position and prize money.

The current format, where the ten quickest drivers fight for the top spot in the final session with an amount of fuel decided by the teams, often sees pole position going to a car that's lighter than the rest.

FOTA will meet on December 4 and if the proposed format is agreed upon by all teams, it is expected to be submitted to the FIA for approval.

This would be fantastic. All drivers on the ragged edge throughout the whole of qualifying rather than just putting all effort into one lap.

Quite, quals of x amounts of learning laps followed by 1 lucky/good one is boring as shit. Should be about driver ability/consistency.

Yeah that new Qualifying set up looks fun, but you know how things work in F1. It would take 5 seasons before it would even be implemented.

I'm just happy slicks are back and the cars won't look like Wapanese Gundam robots anymore either now that they aren't allowed to use all of the ground effect aerodynamics etc.. although I guess they did look cool but I think it became too much afterwards.

FYI Jens your 2009 calender is all fucked up atm.

France pulled out entirely and China has been moved to the 3rd race of the Season.

I gather Webber's leg will have recovered by March 2009 (Theres still a little over 4 months to the start of the season) so I think he'll drive. But it all comes down to whether he is physically and mentally fit.

So I heard this guy Häkkönen retired.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

nice shot of the MP4-23A hehe Mclaren had the K model out somewhere recently testing KERS...

and yeah, the slicks are sexy...racecars such as these were meant to be on slicks...not some grooved chunky looking shoes.
