The point is that carrying a knife isn't neccesary pretty much ever, because it's quite safe here....

I don't see how carrying a concealed weapon (be it a knife or a gun) means you are more likely to get stabbed or shot. Sure, if you pull it out and start waving it around, I sure do hope you get shot, however, that's not what people who carry those weapons do. It is a self defense weapon, it stays hidden out of plain site until you are in a situation where you must defend yourself.

You posted two articles that neither had any statistics to support what you said.

It should be remembered that you are more likely to be a victim of knife crime by carrying a knife, rather than a knife protecting you

That's about the most blunt it was about the issue, but it doesn't really show any statistics. And yes, I read both articles, because they were the same. Basically I agree with CrazeD, there are those who have knives because they are looking for trouble, and those who would only use a knife for defense.

I feel safe walking round some of the worst parts of the UK unarmed. We are the 3rd worst town for physical crime in the country. We also have had 6 terrorists arrested here over the last few months and every weekday I am wearing DPM's. If I took a gun out and pulled it out every confrontation about 7 people would be dead by now...

Over here, it's best to kill someone who attacks you if there are no witnesses, otherwise the police have no idea who attacked first which gives the attacker an opportunity to sue you for assault.

It's crazy, but that's how the law works.

Also, carrying a knife in public is outlawed here. Unless you're a scout. Go figure.

I never said there were stats in the articles, (lol should have made that clear) but they clearly exist and the government believe they are correct, otherwise they wouldn't have spent £3m on a campaign publicising said statistics (inb4 cynicism)

Also jord sums it up quite well, you get the odd idiot but responding with violence just makes shit worse, hence why carrying guns is a bad idea.
