Having bought one now I don't understand why I didn't do so sooner. Though I suppose only now the tech is starting to get really good. The vacuum has a LIDAR system to map its surroundings, scanning the outer edges of the room first and then going back and forth in parallel lines in the defined space before moving to the next room. It saves the map, in which I can draw different cleaning areas, no-go zones, no-mop zones, which room to do first, how often, at what intensity. I can also tell it to go clean specific areas at any time. It knows how to navigate any sort of object and it can also clear doorsteps/ramps (w/e you call em) of about 3cm in height no problem. I have it set to clean 3 days a week at noon. All it needs is to be connected to your wifi.
It also gives me an overview of maintenance - how many hours of use there still is in the brushes and the air filter, when the sensor needs to be wiped etc. and will tell you through voice when it's starting, stopping, charging, needs to be emptied. Wonderful thing. Never have to vacuum or mop again. From what I've read they're also quite durable and will last years without issues.
If you want the real fancy ones you also have self-emptying robots that have a bin built in with the charger. Double the cost though. I also find it a disadvantage that these have a camera mount as well for 'AI guidance'. I'm not keen on buying a camera on wheels with a powerful cpu connected to my wifi.
