I have a CAT5 (I think) network cable going from my router to my PC. I would like to connect my PS3 via network cable instead of wirelessly. I would prefer not to have another CAT5 network cable from my router to my PS3. So my question is, is there some sort of splitter type thing that would allow me to connect another cable to my PS3 using the cable that is already hooked up  from the router to the PC?

Get a switch. You can run the cable from your router to the switch, and run cables from the switches to the PC and the PS3.

Thanks. The link doesn't work due to high traffic. So something like this?

Any cheap generic switch will be just as good. Perhaps this?

Why would you not want another cable running to the router?

The way I understand it, the router is in a different room. I can't see any other obvious reason for why the need would exist.

Why don't you want to use the PS3 wireless? If you already have a router, you don't necessarily need a switch if your router has enough ports to run all of that.  Usually, cable routers have 4 ethernet ports.

Which is why you would use the ps3 wifi capability.  This thread confuses me.

Well, the OP never said whether or not he actually has a wireless network, or if he's at all interested in using it.

Yes the router is in a different room. The PS3 is in a place where the wireless doesn't get a great signal, and I don't really feel like rearranging my room (furniture) to make it be in a good spot for the wireless to get a good signal.

1 ethernet into PC, 1 ethernet out of PC (use a different ethernet port, if you don't have one buy a network card), control panel -> network connections -> select the 2 and bridge connections

this might work

(i think)
