I had a dog back home before I moved to Europe and he stayed inside. He didn't stink.
I also walk a Labrador regularly twice a week for €7/hour. Love that dog. Doesn't stink at all. Sheds a lot, but that's part of the breed. Her owner takes care of her really well and the dog isn't fat at all, despite living in the city.
