shouldn't you be able to drop the timing a little? I run 7-7-7-20-1T @ ~1600MHz. I might even be able to squeeze out a little more even
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I think so. Just want to be absolutely sure its stable so going down in small steps. And I don't think I get THAT much more performance because its already working in tri-channel.

btw what voltage settings you use for QPI etc.?

I have 1.64 DRAM BUS and stock for QPI, CPU PLL, IOH...

Iam definatly going to get this but I will wait till The price of Motherboards go down  with a 600$ max budget this is a little much to be spending 200$ on a main board

i7 is not for budget builds. They do some serious number crunching that you'll only need when doing Scientific simulations/calculations, Rendering, Encoding, Distributed computing or when you have multi GPU. Until i5 makes an appearance the C2Ds are the way to go for mainstream and budget builds

your point being? I only need a CPU , RAM and a Motherboard I have a case HDD PSU DVD and BLU ray drive case it will basically make my computer last that little bit longer

i7 = expensive.
600$ = not a lot for an enthusiast build

One question, performance wise, is it any better than my Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Harpertown” processors?

Interesting question. Generally more cores add more performance. A single i7 is however actually OCable to 4GHz+. Many apps aren't properly multithreaded so here raw GHz will win. Also the i7 has a huge advantage in memory bandwidth. It really depends on your app

In either case the multi CPU socket mobos for i7 should be out soon.

Like Alfie said, load times with 6GB of DDR3 in tri-channel are supah fast

hell yeah. my i7 boots faster with its shitty 5400RPM drive than my E8400 with a raptor
Then again my raptor sys is bogged down with loads of stuff

my Asus boots OS in 5 seconds.

It is onboard Linux OS but freaking awsome thing to have.

Isn't it possible to get a PCI-E card that takes ram sticks and have your OS on those? Would boot the OS in like, 3 seconds.

you can. those drives are pretty rare tho...

at least for PCI... haven't seen a PCI-E ram drive...

Should've named it DDRive.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
