I'm a turd when it comes to techy stuff so I'm hoping someone can come to my rescue again.

I've got this monitor. Can someone tell me if it's possible to hook my PS3 up to it and if so how? My PS3 is collecting dust, and it'd be awsm to use it on this monitor.

Thanks guise.

All you need is a HDMI to DVI adapter. Female HDMI to male DVI. Should be easy to find in your local electronics shop.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

If PS3's have DVI out, then just use a DVI cable
If they don't, then either HDMI -> DVI adapter on your ps3, then a dvi cable from that to the monitor
or you can use analog RGB https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6f/Component_video_RCA.jpg/180px-Component_video_RCA.jpg

Thanks

I got a few adapters and stuff with the monitor and had no idea what they're for. I'll go and check.

What I would get is a HDMI cable + a HDMI to DVI converter. So you can have two cables. A DVI converter is really cheap and you can use that HDMI cable if you will ever need it.

3.5 mm jack to RCA

except not like that because the 3.5mm end would have to be female so the speakers could plug in, but meh

Do you have an amp close to your monitor?

I just got a PS3 today

But I don't have an HD TV to use it with

So if I use my 22" 1680x1050 LCD monitor, will it be able to play games/movies in full Blu Ray quality?  Like, will the quality be the same as an 1080p tv, just on a smaller scale?  Also, my monitor doesn't have speakers built in.  I guess that's a problem?

His is Component video.

Yours is Composite video + stereo. aka AV.

I'm confuzzled, as Google Images brings up instances of both varieties for "AV Multi Out" - the name of the connector on the PS3.

One would think plugging in just one video RCA would make the PS3 output as Composite, thus making said pic both types. Yes?

Either case, PC monitors don't have Component/Composite connections.

Mine does, and I use component with my PS3 atm. (I have the pictured cable)

The quality is fucking terrible, (480i lol) I'll be going for one of those HDMI -> DVI converters.

Why are you running in 480i if you're using component? Are you sure you're not getting confused between component (as pictured) and composite? Because you can run in 1080p with component.
