So as some of you may or may not know, for the last 3 months I've been at college studying Music Production The first 3 months was just an "introduction" but I have never learnt so much in such a small space of time. You can actually see how well I have progressed from the quality of the songs I've been making. This is the purpose of the thread just to show people how much I have improved
This was the first song I made
.
It sounds pretty bland, I haven't mastered it (I didn't know how ) and it just sounds really...boring in my opinion. I put 7 hours of work into this.

This however is the song I ended up handing in for my final project

I spent abouuuuut maybe 30 or so hours making this song, from making the music to mastering it to adding what I thought were finishing touches, and then letting other people here it to tell me what could make it better. I think it sounds a lot better, and it is alot easier to listen to. (bear in mind Youtube rapes the quality a bit, if people want it, I will provide a download link for the song)

For anyone that remembers him, my tutor was Chad Jackson, the guy who released the National Number 2 hit " Hear The Drummer Get Wicked " in the 80's. Youtube it and I guarantee you know it.

Tl;dr

Listen to this

and it's not great..

Listen to this

and its better don't you think?

It's better, but doesn't move you. You need to put more emotion into your music. Make it uplift you or drown you in sorrow.

That sounds like it's more suitable as background music in a bad movie (no offence, your definitely improving). Maybe it's just not my kind of music.

Sort of build up you need imo:

Don't start with the drums and heavier beats right away. If that 2nd video had started around the 30sec mark it would've been much better.
