So far it doesn't seem that bad, the wind is picking up gradually but it's still not anywhere near as bad as that "microburst" storm thing from the end of June to early July. That was like a Hurricane that appeared right the fuck out of nowhere on the shore or something.

Anyway, they said on the news that it's hitting Delaware already so I guess it'll be another 2 or 3 hours before it starts hitting us

Now it's starting to get bad, if we're lucky, the derecho got most of the weak trees in summer but these are also long term sustained winds

At least by next year we'll have those new smart power meters the power companies have been ever so nice enough to install all across the state. The power companies can ping them to see who still doesn't have power and when the grid itself is upgraded to "smart" status I think they can even automatically reroute power from working sections to other sections while they fix the primary source of the outage for that section. I don't know if that's a sure thing, that's what it looked like in the model when BGE explained it in a Youtube video though. Cool stuff in general

Actually a similar thing happened to my brother's colleague last year (also work in a hotel). He got stranded during the floods and couldn't get back home. The hotel was closed for a month anyway so he got the penthouse to live in free for two weeks and then another two weeks at $50 a night.
