Since when does any card perform well in the mess that's called DX10?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. I haven't looked at benchmarks, but I'm quite sure their results are quite similar to the ones of the 8800GT. They win cause of the extra horsepower.

just compare shader units... 112 vs 216 in GTX 260/216

Now the question goes, is DX10 really worth it. It's very little eye candy you achieve with it, and if you really want it, you can buy something more powerful. I still say 8800GT would be enough for the needs of 80-90% of players. And by that I mean they would hardly notice the difference to a GTX260.

yeah.. like the GTX 260... that was my point... and yes I have seen the difference on my own eyes. Crysis for exxample looks hell lot of better in dx10 mode. so does Bioshock and WiC.

EDIT: And COH: OF etc.. not going back to DX9 after playing at DX10...

For me, it is...makes FSX so much more enjoyable. Smooth framerates in that game are pretty much a must.

PCBs with 512bit memory interface are really expensive.

Explode probably I believe they had problems with it. It has taken them quite a while, and it's already delayed by nearly two months (they first said they had, ''something'' for november).

Also, not exactly a looker, I always thought the GX2 cooler looked like a brick but now it seems to look much more like a VHS video tape. Or is that just me lol
