A while ago we were getting crap speeds on our internets. We were on a 2MB plan, and as you can see from this speedtest we weren't getting anywhere near that.

So we phoned up our ISP and complained, and the guy on the end of the line said he would upgrade our package from 2MB to 8MB with no change to our bill or anything. This was months ago, but I forgot to test the speed when they said it changed. I just did a speed test a minute ago, and although it isn't 8MB, it's a massive improvement on the origional test.

So the moral of the story, kiddies, is moan, and you might get stuff, because they don't want to lose your custom.

(Also, I selected a server in Ireland, and look what I got

It's because I have fiber, much easier for the ISP to provide better uploads because of the high capacity of the cables...

Yes, but irl we were getting download speeds of 50kb/s, and sometimes it would just stop altogether for ~2 hours.

When I get my own place it's fiber wire. Can't skimp on internet speeds.

Telstra Wholesale charge around $15 more for a 8mb. There's nothing in between.

Besides, 1500 is better for games cause it uses G.dmt.

Nah, you download at 161kB/s (kilo bytes) - speedtest is measured in kilo bits

Since there are 8 bits in a byte, divide your speedtest reading by 8, you get 164kB/s, which is nearly bang on

As for me... I pay £24/month for 8mb from AOL, and just got this....
