weight, the Thompson is very heavy when compared to a modern submachine guns. And It fires a non-NATO .45acp round. The 9mm parabellum may not pack the wallop of the venerable .45, but I, sure as shit, wouldn't wanna be shot with a 9mm.

one of the reasons i love the thompson so much. it is the only firearm i am able to fire full auto (not just bursts), and remain accurate with...that is because of the weight combined with its slower cyclic rof.
