So I just got a brand new xbox 360 for Christmas and I can't get it working. My T.V. is kind of old (from like the year 2000) and I've plugged everything in like it's suppose to be, but nothing is happening when I turn it on. What could be the problem?
If the xbox is turning on, then make sure that you have connected all your composite (AV Yellow, Red, White) cables to the TV correctly
make sure on the TV your on the correct channel,
If it still isnt working, try on another TV, and if it still doesnt work, call up the support for the xbox

everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
Did you click the input button on your remote to switch the T.V. to video?
Are you on the correct input - Video 1, HDMI, Component 1, etc?
Are you getting lights on the 360? Are they green or red (Christmas irony...)?

Yes, my T.V. only has the Video and Audio input also.
Also, my controller doesn't connect to my xbox when I click the button.
My xbox will turn on, but nothing happens. Even when I try to connect my controller, the controller just starts blinking and I can't even turn it off.

You have to sync them the first time I'm pretty sure, there should be a white button with >> marks beside it on the xbox, hit that and turn on the controller and they should sync.
Alright, I got the Xbox and controller to work and it even turned on. I heard the startup sound on my t.v. but there is no picture. I have the yellow cable in the video plug though. Don't know what to do about that.
On the audio/video cable, where it plugs into the xbox, make sure the switch on it is set to "TV" and not "HD"Whiplash wrote:

if it is set to HD, and you dont have an hdtv, no video will come out
It's set to T.V. and it's still not working.
Try a different input area or another tv?
I fixed it. Nothing was wrong. I just started from the beginning and it started working. Thanks for the help.
