I found out there's finally been offical releases about what my CPU's TJMax is, so I can get a better idea of my CPU temps now. The problem is, I have been confused:

This site explains it all, but under the E4 Series, it gives two TJMax values, one for "Target Tj (B2/B3/L2)" which is 70C and another for "Target Tj (G0/M0)" which is 80C.

CPU-Z screen is shown below.

Am I right in matching the "Revision" field with one of those codes from the Target TJ columns?

So is my E4400 an L2 version, meaning the TJMax is 70C?

You're TJMax is 70°C. Just type that into core temp or real temp

Cheers, just wanted to check I guess there would be nothing worse than thinking I have temps that lie

Now I can see if I can OC this processor even more... I'm not satisfied with just 50%.

400FSB go go go

You've still got loads of Vcore room

Ah shit. Read the update on that link

Update: Unfortunately, the data provided by Intel is not actually what was expected. The developer of Core Temp received an email last month from the presenter of the August IDF presentation on the DTS specifications which said that Tjunction Max would be disclosed for all processors in Taipei. In reality, Intel disclosed a value known as "Target Tjunction," which should not be used as Tjunction Max as it will result in unrealistic temperature readings. Taking the earlier example of the B2 E6600, if you had a low ambient temperature, changing Tjunction Max so that it aligned with the Target Tjunction may result in temperature readings close to or below 0°C when at idle. Temperatures below ambient aren’t possible on normal air cooling.

It seems that yet again Intel has avoided providing any valuable information at IDF. Intel hasn’t even stated exactly what Target Tjunction actually is. It is not recommended to change Tjunction Max to align with these values.
Now what?! I'll never know my damn temps... But I know it's not 50C idle as my F7P is hardly warm in the slightest...

Also, my BIOS says the CPU core voltage is 1.325V, yet CPU-Z says different...

I think I just have a shit processor.

core temp should give you a pretty good idea. Stay below 1.5Vcore and the F7P will keep the CPU cool enough

Trust CPU-z for the Vcore reading

I woulda said trust the BIOS over CPU-Z.

Any particular reason you say trust CPU-Z, max?

Does CPU-Z show the actual voltage then?

BIOS should be trusted because of what DU says.  CPU-Z will give you an accurate measure of your Vdroop.  take your BIOS vcore and subtract the CPU-Z value from it, that gives you your vdroop.  if you want to add that to the CPU-Z value all the time then go ahead, just keep that number in mind.

That's what I thought (but wasn't sure of) - BIOS shows nominal voltage, CPU-Z shows actual voltage, nominal-actual=vdroop.

CPU-z reads the actual value. The value you set in the bios can very far off from the real voltage (up to 0.2V)

Just to clear up the confusion
Vdrop is the difference between what you set in the bios and what you actually get
Vdroop is the difference of voltage between a loaded and an unloaded CPU (not EIST. The Vcore drops the more power you draw)

Thus you should trust the CPU-z reading due to the Vdrop of your mobo.

I pretty much don't have vdrop. well... maybe 0.001V. The P6T Deluxe BIOS has an option to boost the voltage to the value set in BIOS under load to eliminate vdrop.
