Right,I got kicked from a server because I dared to use the artillery on the carrier on Wake.

Great idea from the admins...hey,let's prohibit artillery strikes on the carrier so we can camp peacefully till our chopper or jet spawns....

All whiny pussies,nobody said that they have to stay on their "sun-deck",instead of taking a boat and trying to reach the island as fast as possible..noooo,they have to have a jet and when you give them the artillery they feel treated unfairly...boo-hoo...

What do these guys expect from the chinese commander,just sit tight till the Americans finally cap a flag and then you can use your arty?
You get a lot of teamkills because all your infantry already rushes them and the us commander can place his arty where he wants....mickey-mouse-bullshit rules for planewhore server admins.

I think attacking un-captureable bases with arty is totally legitimate,it keeps the airforce on the ground,gives the planecampers a motivation not to wait for the jet any longer,and if you are too stupid to get some flags and don't advance into enemy territory you deserve to get your arse kicked with a nice barrage,even on the "sacred" carrier.

Absolutely, Unfortunately those servers do exist, i think it is actually in violation of the ranked server rules under "no admin shall prhibit the use of a vehicle or weapon" but they haven't seemed to be called on it yet

I was doing this the other night and some of the other team was trying to vote kick me and crying don't arty a non cap flag boo hoo,
you are correct if they want to stand around in a bunch on the "Sun Deck" then they are asking for an arty strike. I got 15 with one strike the other night.
When i'm usmc i stay away from the deck and always take a boat.
It does give the spec ops players motivation to c4 the arty/uav/radar, if i'm not the commander i try and make an effort to find their commander and make his/her life hell,(i'm just not that good at it though).

i think its a right rule.

Taking the island with the rib is quite impossible because of the tanks/favs camping on the landing area, the only way is using a bh but if the chinese commander keep spamming arty on carrier, usmc will never leave the carrier and if they dont reach the island chinese guys waste their time doing nothing because there is no enemy to fight

i think would be a better thing a rule like this:

no arty on carrier if there are no other usmc flag

I personally think it's lame to have no arty strikes on carrier and the USMC can have it on thier airfield. I've seen people bitch because the chinese are on the Essex destroying the toys and saying 'you are on the carrier, you can't be, you spawncamper'! Wha? What's good for one should be good for the other. I personally don't mind them bashing the carrier I spawn at the island or boat it. I don't play those servers.

but there are other spawnpoints.... the island, and i've seen a couple AT's take out the tanks and the snipers took out the others. I've always made it to the Main island; sometimes the BH has to go really high; or the boat almost has to go out of bounds to the North Village -- 9/10 no one is there.

No baserapping, then for instance; Karkand, they can rampage your bases and drive your off the map, isnt it fair then to make their life misserable by preventing them to spawn.

I once got kicked for rushing into the enemy base and hijacking their M1A2. Apperently that is prohibited. LMFAO!
Their should be a standard set of rules that apply to ALL servers!

How to advance? tell your plane pilots to bomb the hell out to the armor camping shores and send troops in blackhawk to chinese airfield first and then shore flags.

On some maps you have the enemies spreaded all over the map and there is no sure shot with arty then,on their airfield are always 2 or 3 hardcore planecampers,mostly some clan-guys who are totally convinced that they are the official BF2-gods and nobody should dare to cross their paths.
And this is were I start.
On servers which allow arty everywhere(what's to allow?Geneva Convention or what?) I could do a fine commander's job,the airforce had real problems taking off + no teamkills for me because I only strike where the enemy is.

These extra-rules made up by some clan-guys with small dicks and big egos are only there to ensure that they can get in a jet without problems to then treat our infantry in the same "unfair" way.

I think EA should make up the server rules and if people wanna have a ranked server they have to stick to these rules.
All the weird servers(knife + pistol only/no vehicle use/etc.) just mess up the ranking,even "small" rules like no arty on carrier influence the stats of some players(the jetwhores die more often if they get a shrapnel shower while waiting for their (air-)bus...

I think the almost all self imposed rules that you see on ranked servers are absolute bollocks. Here's some rules I've seen and my suggested (and justified) replies if you want to get instantly kicked from that server:

No entering uncappable bases except special forces-> Learn to defend your main base then. Really, it's that simple.

No arty on uncappable bases -> The commander gets no score from arty, it just assists with strategic shaping of a battle by cutting certain paths or targetting tanks stupid enough to sit still by crates and repair or preventing air domination of your team, and anyway if it bothers you that much why don't you destroy it.

No arty allowed (e.g. suicide kings server) -> WTF!!! STFU AND PLAY MAPS WITHOUT ARTY THEN!!!! REALLY, GET A FUCKING LIFE AND STOP MAKING UP STUPID NONSENSE RULES!!!!

No commanding (yes, I've seen this, particularly on wake) -> See above and add extra profanity.

No stealing vehicles from enemy base -> Again... LEARN TO DEFEND YOUR ASSETS AND STFU!!!!!!

No queuing for vehicles -> Don't even need to go there. This rule is purely for ensuring that if the clan who run the server don't get the jet they can sit on the airfield waiting for the pilot to die and kick them when they come back to get into the jet again. Pretty pathetic really. Especially as the rule only seems to be applied when clan members don't get the jet.

Join or form a squad or you will be kicked -> Basically, this rule is so they can easily abuse you over voice channels if you don't do what they want. There isn't a record of voice chat like typed chat so they can be as threatening, dirty and disgusting as they want. This has been used to enforce the rules so stupid and illegal that they didn't even make my list (e.g. knife only, no vehicles and others that are blatently unjustifiable). You can't force people to play how you want them to play on a public server, go private/unranked if you really feel the need practice your facist policies.

No air bombing uncappable bases -> Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there air defenses at every uncappable base? In fact, aren't there two very powerful turrets on the carriers? And isn't the opposing airforce supposed to stop the enemy from getting airbourne, where the odds go from 95% to 50% (+/- skill of both pilots) that you take them out before they get you. You got the advantage because they got shot down, don't be afraid to use it. And yes, I've been on the team getting slaughtered on the carrier because they lost all their control points, and no, that doesn't change my view.
