which means £300 in the uk. Not.

it actually means more like £600 in the uk.

but if i import one, i pay circa £400 max. but no warranty.

but what stops me sending it back to the USA if it goes wrong ?

This.  And the hassel, plus, if something does go wrong, your machine is out of action for however long it takes to get a replacement (which ofcourse is going to be longer than if you bought from, say, OC).  Unless you have a spare?
