Is it true that you have to unlock the BF2 weapon for a particular kit BEFORE you can unlock the SF weapon for that kit?

I've got to waste an unlock on the L85 just to get the G36E WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

how is that lame? more often than not, the SF unlocks are better than the BF2 unlocks. you'd just have a bunch of lance corporals running around with g36e's.

Did you miss all of the claims of certain unlocks being "better". We have the stats in Wiki, look at them and you'll see that there isn't too much of a difference to call the new unlocks truly better. They give more options, as well as a consistant weapon set that you can use no matter what army you are in.

Exactly, if you look at the weapons comparison chart here http://wiki.bf2s.com/weapons/comparison it seems some of the bf2 unlocks actually perform better than the so called 'tier 2' SF unlocks. G36C compared to the SCAR-L for instance

yeah but you also get 2 unlocks every level instead of 1. so instead of getting the L85 you can get both on the same level up.
