G15 is pretty awesome, but look for the G11 if you don't want/need the display.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I still say the Eclipse keyboards are so much nicer if you don't need all the BS macro keys.

It was never the holy grail. It's oversized and gimmicky. Steelseries 7g is a truly good keyboard.

Those BS macro keys are what is keeping the BF2S SuperPI thread alive

I love my G15. It's fucking great. The screen is pretty useful for me too- msn, music playing, cpu temps, xfire messages recieved (good if your game is loading and you can't scroll x for a minute or so), bf2 score display, countdown timer - all really useful applets.

Get one if you can afford it

The Saitek Cyborg is rather nice, too. Look at that.

Ugly keyboard, big fat clumpy overpriced fan boy merchandise.

Get something that feels nice. I've tried one of those, and the key bounce back just doesn't feel right.

I believe there is a G19 (or something) coming out soon.  Bigger LCD display.  Probably more expensive though when it releases

I love my G15. The keys and everything else feel brilliant to me, but then again I've come from a long line of Saitek gaming keyboards that just don't quite have the same style of tactile response... matter of personal preference I think. I really like the ergonomics of the keyborad and the nice wide layout, and the LCD display has been reasonably helpful I think- I use the media keys a lot for controlling my media players whilst in-game, and the same for the LCD-display clock / music player.

DO NOT PURCHASE THE CYBORG..

The drivers are horrible and bugged And you can't use any of the special keys without them...

When I got my Cyborg I returned it the same day.. damm what a nice piece of hardware RUINED by horrible software

ALL OTHER KEYBOARDS BOW IN THE SHADOW OF OPTIMUS MAXIMUS!

But tbh the G15 is ugly as fuck and the G11 the same, the G15v2 is a beauty, but it is too expensive.. I want a G11v2

Aren't they like a few thousand?

Also, I have a Microsoft Sidewinder X6 which is very awesome.

Although a little screen would be cool, I think... Handy...

Yeah the maximus is a novelty more than a realistic purchase tbh, but it still remains the most of keyboards
The G15 is pretty overpriced itself tbh

Why? Why is it so bugged? Perhaps a better description?

Here are photos of the new G19:

You'd think for 1.5k US you'd get a keyboard with driver's that worked, but the manufacturer thought differently.

That said, while the G15 is a good board I regret dropping the cash on it. I don't use the macro keys, I only use the screen for displaying what song is playing and personally I'd be just as happy with any other media keyboard. THAT SAID, the thing is a tank. It's gone the longest without cleaning/maintenance of all my other keyboards and while it's no Model M, I think it'll last a good while.

Recommendation: Go to a computer store and try keyboards for their feel. The in store price may be lower then the keyboards online + shipping and it's the best way to decide. A more 'exotic' keyboard like the G15 may not be there but if you need macro keys or a screen, you've got 4-5 choices from Logitech/Razer and a small number of others. Pick what you want and unpack it carefully.

Dell stock.  4 years old, wrist support is held on by duct tape, feet are broken and replaced by paper clips, and WASD doesnt have any letters.
