Today I played some rounds BF2. In one round we had no commander so I decided to take this position. Before I got about 8 points for kills and about 6 teampoints.
We won the round and the stats said that I made these points before being commander and a commander score of 28 (which gets doubled for the win). So I should have got a total round score of 70, but it said that I only got 43 points!!!!

Any ideas wtf is going on?????

I beleive that the commander score (points aquired while commander fro spotting people, supply crates etc) is the only part of the score that gets doubled. I am pretty sure thats how it works.

Only the score you get as commander gets doubled.

i dunno man, but when you are ommander, make sure yor team takes loads of flags, thats where the big commander points come from

yes you cant get 50 team points then become commander for 1 minute before end of round and have your 50 points doubled too!!

Yep, that's right, only commander part of your score is doubled.

However the part about spotting people and supply crates is actually incorrect. You do not get commander points for any of your actions. That's ANY of them. Killing, spotting, arty, supplies, orders.... you cannot do anything as commander to directly affect your score. You can only assist the rest of your team to earn points, and that's it.

It is well established that the commander score is purely the average of your team score earned while you are in command (and doubled for the win).

If you have any doubts about this, look at the game code (it's in the file C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\python\game\scoringcommon.py). The part to look at is the addscore method.

You can't deduce from the stats WHEN you earned kill-points or team-points. But any such points that you earned, while commander, will NOT get added into your total score. Nevertheless, they will get recorded since they still count towards any ribbon, badge or medal requirements.

It's funny that your total (doubled) score was less than 2 x your commander score. But where did you get your commander score from? The 28 you cite was probably your TOTAL score before doubling. If this was made up of 13 kill & team points earned BEFORE you played commander + 15 points earned AS commander, then, after doubling, your final score would indeed be 13 + 2x15 = 43.

Yeah, I know that the commander gets the avarage of the points his team made and I also know that only the commander score gets doubled!!!! It seems that only Rico-Chez read my post carefully. It's kind of weird how this score came out. I have no idea, the points I posted were shown in the round stats... Seems that BF2 knows no mathematics.

Just checked the end-of-round stats page, and I see nothing wrong with BF2's maths. I can't see command points listed separately anywhere. Prior to the end of the game you may have seen the 28 on your score, which would have included the points (13) you earned before becoming commander. Your commander points would then have been 15, which would have given you a total score cited on the end-of-round stats of 13 + 15x2 = 43.

Ahhhhh shit you're right Rico-Chez. I just saw my fault a minute ago in game. The commanderscore shown is already double, so the 43 is absolutely correct. Damn I'm so stupid.
