Hey guys,

I've been making some Youtube videos of my FPS games lately, and I wanted to add some transitions. However when a transition ends the next clip doesn't load and the first image of the next clip apears and stays there throughout the movie. I check online and searched the forums and came up with nothing.

Could I just need to update my WMM? Anywho I'd like to get this worked out because the movie doesn't look too good without the transitions or effects.

Thanks alot!

WMM is very, VERY unstable when working with big amounts of data... anything you have recorded with fraps will probably cause it to crash...

Also, like JPEG in MSPaint, videos in WMM comes out in a pretty darn bad quality

I hear Sony Vegas is the way to go tbh...

This man speaks the truth, now if only you knew how to get Sony Vegas... Hmmmmmm....

Yeah, if you use a file over ~200MB WMM will go really slow, anything over 500MB it'll likely crash, depending on your specs.

I haven't had any issues with WMM.  I've been moving some very large home movies to disk so they could be played in the DVD player.  These movies files, when combined onto the disk, are well over 3GB.

Then again I am using Vista 64-bit.

I have no experience with vista WMM since I choose not to downgrade my PC

Though nomatter what you try/do windows movie maker is prone to crashing and having bugs and should really only be used if you have no other choice (as in, no internet connection ) I bet you can find some pretty good freeware if you look around tbh, if you want it legal that is..

I have a dual boot with XP, but my system has 6GB of RAM, so to make use of that 64-bit was a must.

This is a WMM problem that Ive had. Basically, WMM can only take so much and then it refuses to play any more videos, screen will just say black.  I had it on most of my previous BF2 vids, so I ended up making 5 separate movies in WMM to avoid the black screen and compiled them all separately. That then gave me 5 compiled videos, which I then brought into WMM, sorted out the transition between each one, and compiled that.

Its a long-way around, but it works.

Also, transitions suck. Use them sparingly, and even then, only a select few.

tbh they can be split into two categories...

1. Decent:
- Instant cut
- Fade

2. Rubbish
- all others...
