Just like FF runs a different engine than IEKmarion wrote:
Opera runs on a completely different engine, so it is possible that it has not been infiltrated.
If 2 engines are affected it's a good guess that it's not a browser issue but rather a much deeper problem.

I agree. One of my first suggestions was that he try another browser. That's one of the first rules in trouble shooting browser issues.. then you say omg your infected... get away get away ..lolmax wrote:

I had this problem with IE on my dads pc, FF was fine.
Turns out it was a virus which was redirecting urls whenever a search engine was used.
I reformatted after most of my intensive scans found nothing.

Spyware removal time. In the future, use Opera to surf for porn, not IE/FF.
Another weird problem, but how come when I use Google's Advanced Search, keeping all the preferences the same, it works?
Probably targets www.google.com, nothing elseRyan wrote:

When I fuck up my OS, which happens surprisingly often, I just use the stored image on my server to reimage my disk. After reinstalling windows 9 times in a single night some years ago, I learned my lesson
