I mean wouldn't changing a system of currency be easier?
For a metric system you have to teach generations that ONLY learned the imperial system, at least kids these days know what a centimeter is... 1/10 of a meter....

Pound used to > Euro. Now, as said, its about the same. There is a bit of talk about it again now considering how much the £ has tanked against the euro.

Because when the whole idea was tabled, we were waaaay stronger than the Euro, and IIRC were stronger (£ wise) than everyone else in the EU. So it made no sense to devalue the money we had.
