I am playing at a server with autobalance off. I hadnt teamswitched the entire round, I stayed on the same team. I was also a squad leader..... which, correct me if im wrong: DO NOT GET AUTOBALANCED EVEN IF IT AUTOBALANCE IS ON (as well as commanders).

We had about 180 tickets, and the other team had 11 and they were about to lose. I died, and all of a sudden it switches me to the other team. I switch back, and of course, it switches me AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH AUTOBALANCE IS OFF. And of course, I lost.

First off, why does it autobalance when its OFF?

When autobalance is off, the expected outcome is that: THE SERVER DOES NOT BALANCE TEAMS.... EVEN IF THE TEAMS ARE 63 - 1..... am I wrong? WHY DOES IT STILL MONITOR AND SWITCH PEOPLE.

Now its not as strict as an autobalance on server. Servers with autobalance on tend to switch you back INSTANTLY if you try to switch when the teams are balanced. Some autobalance off servers (like this one i was just playing on) let you switch, but about 2-3 seconds later after switching, if you didnt spawn yet, it still switches you. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.... AND YES, IT DOES HAPPEN.

Am I getting the definition of autobalance wrong? What is the deal here..?

What server were you playing on? Were there admins present? I don't want to make unsubstantiated accusations, but the BF2CC administration tool allows admins to "Switch to XX (On Next Death)" where XX is the opposite team than the player is currently on.

It could be that you had an admin that wanted to switch you to the other team for some reason or another.

Psyco is right, it would have been server where the autobalance was controlled by BF2CC.
