Hi everyone. I was just wondering if you think its time for a new gameplay mode. Its my understanding that a sequential flag cap game mode (push) is either in the works or should be. This game will benefit from it.

With a push style of gameplay there can only be two directions for the battles to flow and by putting both teams on the same page as far as objectives you gain an actual battlefront. Entire armies with the same objective running headlong into a defending force means instant action.

PUSH: This and this ALONE is all you would need to turn ALL maps that people hate (i.e. cleansweep, kubra dam) INSTANTLY into the best games they have every played. With offensives that land vehicles and troops into chokepoint battles for bridges and canyons that most often go wasted. Maps like OMAN that have defensive coverage set up (sandbags, gun mounts) set in directions to defend an oncoming enemy force will now have purpose.

Nothing is more unbalancing than a game in which 62 players are battling at one flag yet one or two stray snipers in a single vehicle travel to the other side of a map to cap a flag alone and keep what would be a BATTLE into a game of CAP and Mouse. This is primarily what kills a map like kubra dam.

Artillery strikes would become deadly accurate with a defending force held up around a flag... arty timing with an assault rush would be creative, strategic, challenging for commanders and squadleaders. Only making the work of spec ops squads even more vital to destroy those assets. and in turn making repair crews just as necessary.

Just the existence of battlefield2 tells the ADVANCED gaming community that you actually have your heads on straight and you know what good online play is about. lets take the next step and add this much anticipated (required) Game play mode to this game.

I hope you guys are really working on this. It would be absolute suicide to not go in this direction after all of the potential this game exhibits. What about the rest of the community? isnt it about time we get this?

I'm all for it.

To further illustrate this for some who may not understand:  Imagine a map with 5 flags total.  One side is USMC with two flags in their general vicinity. One side is the enemy with 2 flags in their general vicinity.  There is one flag in the middle, which is the site for our first choke point/battle.  Everyone wants this middle flag because it gives you the edge, the momentum to press further into enemy territory.  Your teammates will be more willing to play some D back on your first two flags, as they wouldn't want to lose their footing.  PUSH offers focused firefights and chokepoints, instead of meandering find-and-frag gameplay we see so much these days in BF2.

PUSH would also ditch the ticket system in favor of granting victory to whoever caps all the flags (instead of relying on potential stragglers capping a stray flag after all have been taken).  This added intensity will give incentive to playing defense and using more diverse classes.

Commanders would now have to be really on their toes.  Taking out enemy scanner and UAV and arty now has added purpose, as focused gameplay means you're easy prey to an enemy arty strike.

It seems like EA/DICE has already set the game up for something like this, given the map designs and how some of the scoring works.   I just hope they do it!

but ill tell ya sometimes it might be an even number of flags and the middle would be a choke point that is NOT a flag a standoff at a bridge  or a canyon that youll need arty to clear out. or it might be a fight between two flags close enough to have cover and get shots off. ducking behind sand bags lobing grenades. and medics working on  the injured in safety. Might make for interesting scenarios. or quick ones if arty isnt taken out.

I'm for it too. However, BF2 is a military FPS, which means it kind of follows a military ground. i don't think capture the flag is really something armies would do. Having said that, it is a game, and having a capture the flag game would be fun, (well, maybe not for Snipers.)

Your Push idea is a good one though. It puts capture the flag into a military type thing. I must admit, I would love to defend against wave after wave of enemy force directed at the same place, and not having to always deal with those sneaky bastards who travel cross-country to get the far back bases and ensure their team gets a comaback.

Bring it on I say.

I believe that the BF1942 mod "Desert Combat" had a few maps with the same mode.
However, it's an awesome idea!

I only knew of one map. Medina Ridge But it failed in my opinion because one side had all the flags. and people would fly thru illegal airspace to spawn camp the enemy before they were even ready... thats what happens when you give thos einternet gamers too much freedom... had the out of bounds been properly defined the map might have flowed better...
