Let it dry, then go to the store where you bought it and ask to get it fixed. Don't tell them it was damaged by water because most warranties don't cover that.

Theres this chain of stores here in Slovenia where you buy a warranty for around 20€ and it covers everything (3 or 6 year warranty depends which one you buy)-for example: if you drop it and the screen breaks its covered

Oh man you do NOT turn it on after you drop it in the bath >.<

Leave it on the radiator and when it's fully dried then turn it on.

Charge it, my girlfriend droped hers in the toilet and she let it dry and fully charged it, and left it for a while, and works fine.

Also, Sony > you, I stuck my Sony Erricson W810i through the wash, and it still worked.

I have a serious tip for you:

A friend of mine had a cell phone that he had on him when the two of us were in mascot suits for two days. By the end, it had gotten soaked with so much sweat, it stopped working. Never realized that the sweat inside his costume would have done that. But I think he got it changed out pretty easily at no cost to him.

Here's my advice: Tell them it stopped working. If they come at you for a reason, you have no idea why. If they find water damage, then you say you were doing something (maybe at the gym?) that caused you to sweat A LOT. The sweat must have gotten in there. That's day to day stuff that it should be warrantied against.

ok, here is what happened, i have a 2 month old ipod touch, 2nd gen 8GB.

ok i was getting ready to have a bath, i took my ipod out my pocket and it slipped, falling in the bath, which was about 40CM full of water, i took the ipod out the bath, i pressed the button and it came up with the time and my screen saver wall paper, i thought i got away with it so i just wrapped it in a towel.

i just came out my bath, and tried to use my ipod again, now its not working at all, it doesn't switch on nor charge

now i feel i may have a chance of getting my ipod to work

1.) the ipod was in the bath for no more than 3 seconds.
2.) my ipod has a case on, so less water would have gotten through it, it also has a screen protector sticker, thus  the reason it may have worked when i took it out the bath

anyone been in a similar problem???

anyone know if it can be repaired, or have links to tips on getting it to work???

First thing you do is take out the battery.

Oh wait.

Then you crack it open and fill it up with WD-40.

I didn't bother reading the rest of these posts, and I'm sure this has been said already, but I'll say it again.

If you drop electronics into water, DON'T FUCKING TURN IT ON! Use common sense. Water doesn't magically annihilate electronics. Water is a conductor, it shorts shit out. If there is no electricity traveling through the device, no short occurs. It doesn't matter how much water was in the bathtub, or for how long it was in there. A single droplet is all it takes to short it out. You should have just taken it apart and let it dry thoroughly, for several days, before trying to use it. Now you fried it, gg.

yeah, if it's on, turn it off ASAP.  don't touch it for a few days and leave it in uncooked rice.

Rice absorbs water.

But, that's not really gonna help if its inside it.

This isn't any use in this situation, but some devices (the N95 for example) have a water damage sticker somewhere.

If water goes on the sticker it turns from white to red, then they know it's your fault for breaking it and the warranty is voided.

So if you can find the sticker it's best to cover it up with some tape or something, that way you can trick them into fixing it even if you broke it yourself. Just make sure you remove the tape before you send it off.

Here it is on the N95:
