I'm not sure how it works, but call up MS support and they should arrange to have it fixed. Apparentely it's quite fast and they give you a month of free XBL in return.

Here in the states you call M$ then they send you a box with pre-paid shipping and you send it to them. After that it depends if its fixable or not. If its not they send you a replacement.

What my brother did when his broke was take it back to game, say "hey, gimme a nu wun" and they sent the broken one to 'M$', and when it got back Game sold it as a second hand, and then (I think) charged 'M$' the extra.

Mmk enough spamming for me. I'll say something on-topic (and others have probably already said it). Contact Microsoft and you'll probably have to send the XBox in and they'll return it to you (or return you someone else's refurbished system ) in a couple weeks.

I'd switch out for the original faceplate just to be sure. It's not covered in Halo art and autographs, but you can never be too sure.

havn't got it with me, its back in england. its an assassins creed one, makes my xbox look hawt. i might just hand it in without a faceplate, think they'd be ok?

Hmm in that case I'm not so sure. Is it possible the XBox could get damaged without the faceplate? I suppose you might as well just leave it on. How much do they run for anyway? If they don't return it, I'm sure you could complain and get a free game or some MS points out of it. Just take some pictures of it before you send it away so you've got proof.

I bet i can. E74 is just the xbox overheating. Take off the x-clamp throw in some arctic paste, replace the washers, buy a better fan, take off the metal casing on the back and if you want replace the side with a window panel and put a 80mm fan cover over it to let extra heat out. And your done.

So why does it do it if I turn the Xbox on for 5 seconds, turn it off, then turn it back on? No way it can overheat that fast.

personally, i would buy another one. go for the jasper if you can, and once you get it, put some nice AS5 on the chips instead of their shitty thermal epoxy (that's really what it is, that stuff is like glue)
