“You were standing against the Iranian people in the past 60 years,” Mr Ahmadinejad said during an address in the western region of Khermenshah that was broadcast by state television.

“Those who speak of change must apologise to the Iranian people and try to repair their past bad acts and the crimes they committed against Iran.”

As to the troops, he said he expected two kinds of “deep and fundamental” change.

“Meet people, talk to them with respect and put an end to the expansionist policies. If you talk about change it must put an end to the US military presence in the world, withdraw your troops and take them back inside your borders.”

Mr Ahmadinejad said the advocates of change must “stop supporting the Zionists, outlaws and criminals”.

Maybe he could send his response with his new Secretary of State:

Hillary Clinton wrote:

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Hopefully, Ahmadinejad will go the way of Bush by the next election.

He's just seeing with the change of administration that his power and influence is diminishing and is trying to keep himself relevant.

you know I was watching a travel show on PBS called Rick Steves Europe or something.  he was in Iran and they showed some big ass mosque somewhere.  there were tons and tons of men inside.  and right next to all of them was a huge yellow banner that said death to israel.  gotta love signs like that in church.

Yeah, but Bush had to also worry about the hard liners in his party.

Yeah, but Bush had to also worry about the hard liners in his party.
His hardliners are now virtually powerless now.

I doubt it will matter too much. The Ayatollah is what concerns me the most.

Ahmedinejad really is a cock. A perfect clean slate to perhaps mend some fences and he spews some antagonising and pointed guff. This however is a reasoned and rational action on his behalf - he's not stupid - he is basically saying he has little interest in mending fences with the US.

/having said that the US should apologise for the Mossadeq affair!!!! (not gonna happen)

Iran is no different to America, controlled by religious lobbies/people who have a say on policies and who is president, the same thing happens in America.

There are a few similarities but saying "no different" is stretching it way to much ... remember only a sith deals with absolutes

Politically the US and Iran aren't that different, just slightly different priorities.

You compare US religious fringe groups--who have no authority whatsoever--with official Iranian govt policies and laws? And then say that's "proof" that they are just alike?

What color is the sky on your world?

US religious 'fringe' groups control the balance of power in the US, same as Iran.

Theres a hell of a lot in the OT which demands murder, eg for gays specifically.

The 1950's coup in Iran was Britains fault more than the USA's, and the USA has already apologised:

Wiki wrote:

In the U.S., Operation Ajax was originally viewed as a triumph of covert action, but in 2000 Madeleine Albright, Secretary of State to President Bill Clinton, made an apology to the people of Iran[6], calling the coup an "intervention by America" in Iranian "internal affairs" and a "setback for democratic government" in Iran.,[7] and one journalist has even described it as having left "a haunting and terrible legacy". [8]
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ … ns.00.html

and Britain hasn't:

The United Kingdom has never apologized for its role in the coup.
