I have this^^^

My microphone used to work on it but for some reason it doesn't work anymore. The mute button is switched off (I have checked numerous times) and the cable is plugged into the right place. When I go onto Control Panel > Sound > Change Sound Card settings, apparantly the microphone is plugged in, yet no sound is coming from it.

Not a clue of how to fix this, help BF2s Tech team ((

The mic switch has to be set to on for mine.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Hmmz, i seem to have a problem with mine where the cable keeps winding back on itself, and i wondered how long this could happen before the cable fatigued and broke. Do you have the same problem and maybe thats why? Do you have another mic to plug in to test?

Hmm, my cable is all twisted and shit and I just can't be arsed to untwist it because it'll just twist up again

Maybe that's your answer..?

With mine, whenever problems occur, it's usually always cos the volume control thing on the wire has muted the mic. If it ain't that (Check again), then try on another PC? If it works there, then it's Vista being gay.

Untwisted - Didn't work
Tried on another PC - Didn't work

Definitly vista related, I have the same one and the mic stopped working for no reason at all too. After a few days I changed some random setting in Vista and it came back to life.

Can you remember what this 'random setting' was?

I got mine for dirt cheap.

I'm sure "Line In" is by default the pink port on your soundcard.

So no.

I thought you had to choose between a line in and a microphone on most cards?

Ya know, i'd do what was suggested about re-installing sound drivers and starting from the top again mate.

Nope Sorry mate. Try messing around with some settings. Turn some stuff on and if it doesn work just set it back to as it was.

Well I've got it in as far as I feel it will go without breaking anything... how far is it meant to go

Now Line In is plugged in but the Microphone isn't

(because I plugged the jacks into the back of my PC, if I put them at the front the Microphone appears plugged in. When I plug the cables in the back the Pink jack - microphone - is in the blue port)
