I'm selling a couple books on Facebook Marketplace and I got this message regarding one of them:

Good Morning.i am interested in purchasing your item with no delay, but first? What is the
final price of the item? Is the
price firm? Will you be accepting a US certified Check as Payment
Contact me with the present state of the item and your contact
information to mail out the payment to you as soon as
possible. Name you want on check:
Home Address:
City:
State:
zip code
Country:
Phone Number/Office Number:
PLEASE REPLY ME TO THIS EMAIL ADDRESS kellybrown_33333@yahoo.com
The shitty writing and wanting to pay by check is making me suspicious. However, I do have a half.com account, so I'm thinking I should direct this person to the link for that and have them buy it through there. I've sold many items through half.com and haven't had any problems, and I've even sold some stuff via Facebook, but those were in-person and with cash.

Any suggestions, BF2s?

inb4 email your reply back asap

I suggest you do that half.com thing if it's a proper marketplace thingy and less dodgy, tbh. Always best to say on the safe side.

wait for the cheque to clear before sending the book if you're worried.

ooh, looks sketchy... with all that grammar fail, i'd use a third-party like paypal for accepting payment.  this will at least keep your personal info safe.

No. It's cheque. He's using the British (correct) spelling.

As for the email, if you're worried just ignore it, it might be a scam but it does seem an odd one.

Who the hell replies with "good morning"?

And why are they refering to your books as "item" and not the name of the book?

"Is the price firm?" lol wtf does that even mean

that means "are you willing to drop the price or is that price firm?"

firm means hard like my dick, but it also means steady, hence, keeping the same price.  i see you've never bought anything online from anyone besides an e-tailer before.

Don't let him pay with a check, that just means he is gonna send you a check and it will probably bounce back later.

Tell him you'll only sell it if he uses an Escroe service.
