Hey guys, I'm hoping the collective smarts of the Tech Team (who I <3 ) can help me with this little problem I've got.

Without getting into details, one of my friends has a bunch of files with the extension .WINDOWSLIVECONTACT on her computer. They were left there by someone that used to live there, who is no longer welcome in our social group. So.. we wanna know if there is anything that might be valuable in the files.

I've done a bit of research, but I couldn't make anything of it.

Also, can anyone recommend some good (free) data recovery software?

They're files that are used for storing contact data, such as e-mail addresses and custom names, usually with Windows Live Messenger, but sometimes also outlook and similars. They're also stored on the MS servers and are downloaded when you log onto MSN. You can't easily extract anything from them, if that's what you're thinking about.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

XML (or similar) most likely.

Edit: ooh, encrypty. Yeah good luck with that.
