6800 Ultra is NOTHING.

Let's see what I got heating my room:

2x linear amplifier ~30W heat each
1x digital amplifier, model old ~15W heat
1x GTX260 ~160W heat
2x 8800GT ~80W heat each
1x 4800+ ~80W heat
1x E7400 ~80W heat
1x small server ~30W heat
1x inefficient 24" LCD ~40W heat
1x 10W linear voltage regulator and transformer ~15W heat
3x UPS ~10W each
1x laptop ~30W
Losses in misc. power supplies ~60W

That's over 700W of heat
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I have a radiator. Shits all over your heating devices.

Yeah 6800 Ultra is nothing. When you have overclocked i7 and overclocked GTX 295....

Enclosed space + 80W-120W consumption (6800U) = heat. Plus dual Raptors two feet from my face still = heat. Two electric keyboards (pianos) to my left = more heat. PS3/Wii to my right = more heat. +2xUPS = more heat. +laser printer = more heat. +AV receiver = more heat. +~26"LCD = heat. +2x20"CRT = heat. +Cable modem/two routers = heat. +Vaio = heat+. Etc. Believe it or not, even the Sidewinder joystick adds to the mix, the desk lamp does significantly and the triple overhead (when on) doesn't help.

I don't care if it's a 6800 Ultra or a GTX285; I still have to open my window. I'm not trying to compare frakkin benchmarks, so you two can lay off.

GTX 295 has over 240w power consumption.... heavily overclocked i7 has closer to 200w too...

Not that I'm surprised. My CPU only does a <90W consumption, but it's just another fuzzy toe-warmer, given all the other electronics I'm surrounded by.

Are we seriously having a "my electronic shit wastes more energy than yours" contest?

My nothing is in caps, to imply the insignificance of your synth-mixer-thingy.

Well whoop-dee-doo, cheap chinese plastic isn't made to handle 95°C hot air.
