no meal, just drinkin with my bride
Black Opal Shiraz. Cheap and good. It is a Aussie wine. Their Shiraz's are the best for the money. Their Cabernet/Shiraz blend is also good.

One of my buddy's just returned my call and also recommended Chateau Ste Michelle. The wife likes the sweeter wines.
But remember, red wines have more alcohol and are "better" for you.

For the non-wine types on valentines day, feed her a nice little bottle of German ice-wine, with chocolate covered strawberries or a rich chocolate cake.
super-sweet dessert wine. Comes in little bottles, and is meant to be cold (iirc).
Most of the German White Wines are easier on the palate for non-wine-snobs. Ice Wine is the sweetest. Don't give it to a diabetic...
If you're lucky and have a steak n' wine girl, go for a Merlot, Shiraz, or Cabarnet. I tend to go with the Columbia Valley, Washington state reds
