It's still little rough from the edges and not painted and I need to make mounting holes for mobo spacers but other than that it starts to look like what it should. Few hours job and quick assembly and you can screw Antec's fail skeleton butt. overall cost of this probably has been ~5€ and little bit more with painting but its epic win compared to Antec Skeleton's absurdly high price tag.

will do some testing with my retro rig on that to figure out best way to mount stuff on it. mobo on top and rest of the shit under it.

Open test-benches are awesome. If I wasn't this lazy I'd make one myself

Are you going to use a motherboard tray from a case? Or just drill holes in the wood? For grounding purposes you should make a metallic tray of some sort.

not really. Everything is grounded though the PSU

No, there are absolutely no black wires going from the PSU.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

The PSU is grounded via the mains power

Yes but thats pretty basic isn't it? Are you sure its good enough since all mobos are grounded through the screws and obviously Panzer will not use that.

Yes I'm sure. The standoffs serve no grounding purpose. The area around the screw holes of the mobo is not connected to anything. And even then many cases are made of plastic and are thus are non-conducting.

Yeah I've seen front grills made of plastic but haven't seen a whole case made out of plastic. Links?

Plus the fact that the mounting holes in the motherboard are just that, holes. There are no traces or anything and thus it's not a ground.

Cardboard isn't conductive, yet motherboards work fine atop a box, yes? Well, there ya go.

That out of the way, that is the fucking ghettoist thing I've ever seen. You should take the shell of a shuttle/HTPC case and work from there.

Many is an overstatement. Exclusively in the modding community maybe, but overall, there are not many plexi cases.

For the record, best test bench ever made is made of plastic.

Not to mention the fact that even if the holes where the screws go through were connected to something important to be a ground.... as it's already been pointed out, many cases have at least some plastic to them, or are all plastic.  Even the ones that are entirely metal tend to have rubber feet.  Wouldn't really see much use of a form of ground in an environment where everything metal is touching everything metal.  lol

In a metal case, everything is ground. Everything that isn't +3.3/5/12V is ground. The case, the frame on all the connectors, the coolers, you name it.
