I want to get a new cpu, quad core, socket 775
BUT
My video card is starting to die due to overheating, I am thinking that this can be fixed easily with a refreshment of thermal paste, but not sure. A good Heatsink for a video card costs $40, and if I got a new video card it would be much more cost effective, as this one still runs fine but the fan must run on 100% and it's loud as shit (runon lol)
I wanted the quad core because I am playing GTA4 constantly and people are telling me my cpu is the reason behind slow downs. The processor is overclocked almost 600 mhz over stock speed at the moment, I could probably push it more, but so far I havn't had luck, I got it to 3.4 and it POSTed but BSOD'd in windows so that was no good. I havn't touched voltages though, so maybe I'll try that. So quad core is a possibility
Hard drive is almost top end, 4 gigs is plenty, I have a 750 watt psu, motherboard is high-end albit a year old, but socket 775 is still strong.
What should I do, video card or cpu.
I vote CPU, but honestly, I'm not sure that would be the best idea right now.
I'd probably get a 4870... maybe this one?

Or a Q9400
