My friends (in their infinite lack of the world outside New York) have chosen to go to Busch Gardens (Williamsburg, Virginia) in the summer. I've been given the task of finding transportation. Seeing as I don't know whether my parents would trust me with a Suburban fully loaded with 7 people and accompanying luggage, I've come to you guys for your infinite wisdom.

I've already looked into Amtrak and Greyhound. I've also checked out flights into (IATA codes provided for those aviation related folk) Newport News/Williamsburg Int'l Airport (PHF), Norfolk Int'l (ORF) [too expensive anyway], and Richmond Int'l (RIC). Anybody have any other (preferably) cost-effective options? Help would be appreciated.

Just take a guided limo tour around the 50 states of America.

Seriously you might be wise to find a travel agent and have them set you up with some options. You may have to pay them a fee, but they know better than the people who'll type below this line

Gas prices not so bad, that is probably going to be the cheapest and easiest way to get there. Remember you have to have transportation while you are there, not just getting there.

I resent that Aussie. Some of us have had parts in planning interstate trips.

Fly SouthWest Airlines. They usually have the best prices and there aren't any hidden fees.

I know that, driving is my last resort (LOLASIANINTERSTATEDRIVINGLOL). In any case, that would be dependent on my parents' allowance of the SUV, their trust in me with other peoples' lives, and the trust of their parents with their children's lives.

And seeing as we're relatively (not all of us) poor college students, a travel agent is one of those last resort things too.

EDIT: Mein Pissydon, Southwest doesn't fly outside of Islip. Us city folk won't travel that far.

Save up all your bread and fly Translove Airways to San Francisco, USA. Then maybe you´ll understand the song, it will be worth it.

If not for the sake of the song, then for your own peace of mind. It will be worth it!

Well, more than one of us can drive, but only one of us is a male Asian driver, as opposed to a female Asian driver.

lesser of two evils tbh

Get a fucking car. Most of the fun in a trip with friends is in the actual driving there, if you rely on trains, busses or planes you miss a key part of the experience. If your parents don't trust you with a car either bitch and moan until they do, use one of your friends' parent's cars or if there are no other options:

Pool your money together, buy a cheap car, use it for the trip and sell it afterwards.

The upside of this is that sometimes you can sell the car for more than you bought it for.

I probably won't (i'm driving up from Daytona to New York after this semester), but it's not so much me, but other people's parents. If they don't trust me, then I'm not violating their judgments.

EDIT: Same applies to what you said Ty.

I drove from Stony Brook to Coconut Creek last December.

Not fucking fun.

It depends on your car though, really.

Yeah, cars that fit 7-8 people aren't exactly affordable. Besides, we have an SUV that can fit us all (and MY parents trust me), so that's not the problem.

Since when do Travel agents cost money?

So your saying other people's parents don't trust your driving enough to okay you and your friends' trip.

Punch 'em in the gut and run.

Honestly tell 'em to cut the apron strings, if all the legal drivers share the driving it'll be fine.
