#1 - play nicely. this is sort of a twist of the golden rule, and oddly enough, alot of people forget it. if you are doing something to somebody, stop and think, would i mind if i was in his shoes? such a simple concept that will earn you alot of repect.

#2 - Teamwork is the name of the game. suck it up, i dont care if you just cant wait until your a lance lieutenant commander whateverthehell or if you are really trying to get that i-blow-myself-up-alot badge. TEAMWORK. you are here to win. that doesnt mean to do anything to win, that means that you and your team work as one to kill/assault/capture the other teams assets.

#3 - Dont camp assets. that doestn mean dont basecamp. that means if you really want to fly the plane, play single-player. dont sit around for 20 mins waiting for your turn to fly the plane; thats not how it works. instead of sitting about with your finger in your anus, actually do something. i dont even really care if your really great at flying that plane - youll be really great for capturing a flag, not sitting around watching the grass not grow.

#4 - Follow orders. unless the commander has proven he is totally incapable (like ordering a lonewolf sniper to go repair an asset, or by asking to you capture an uncapturable flag) then assume that he sees things that you dont, because, he probably does. Even if you dont think his strategy works, then realize, A CRAPPY STRATEGY WORKS MORE OFTEN THAN NONE AT ALL. if he continues to be a jackass, point it out over the chat menu. this doesnt take a great deal of time.

#5 - Dont shoot your teammates. why should i elaborate on this? i dont care if you just got TKed for taking the tank. every bullet you put into a friendly is a negative point for you team. dont punish the entire team because somebody is a jackass. on the flip side, dont shoot the guy that just took your tank you just camped for 10 minutes for. better yet, dont camp for that tank.

#6 - Do your job. by job, i mean class. if somebody is right in front of you, kill them, but other than that, a medic heals, an engineer repairs and mines, and support should resupply anybody that needs it. once your job is done, figure out how to help the team, or better yet, follow your orders.

#7 - Dont make it hard for other people to do their job. Dont kill the pilot to take his plane. dont sit down right beside the sniper and start jumping around and shooting your gun. this should be simple, but alot of people ignore it.

#8 - Accidents happen. yeah, that bastard shot you, but maybe he was jumpy. i dont know, but forgive and forget. if it continues to happen, well, then its not an accident now is it?

#9 - Dont punish when people dont deserve it. this really should be higher up on the list. dont just automatically assume that they are an ass. dont use the excuse "but everybody just punishes me!"...what if everybody was jumping off a bridge without a parachute? would you do it?

#10 - Dont be a liability. first, do no harm. if you need to practice with that heli, do it offline or in an unranked server. dont use up team assets (including tickets) by not knowing what you are doing. new to the game? practice offline for a little bit so you know your ass from a grenade.

follow these 10 and nobody will hate you. if everybody followed these 10, then well, there wouldnt be alot of room to complain, now would there be?

You can follow all these rules and then some, and people will bitch about something.  However, it is a good guide.

I must admit that yesterday I violated Rule #5... And it felt so good.... While playing Iron Gator we got pretty much ass-raped. I wondered the whole time where the hell the MEC SF APC was (I was on that side). I found out, that the APC was swimming in shallow water right by the shore... Occupied by the commander who took blind shots at the carrier though he hit nothing. But he kept himself well supplied. He would not move out of the APC.... When he said to the rest of the team "You suckers, my grandmother would have done better", I suicided, switched to Anti Tank, went over there, said "I'll give you grandma" and blew him up with a well placed Eryx.... god that felt so good....

excellent. some people should have these displayed during their 'verifying client data' stage, which hopefully takes them 30 minutes, so all they can do is read them over and over again before they can play. It's all so simple, and yet, still needs to be posted.

Nice idea blacksheep - good work. I have only one comment for now -

It really is absolutely OK for a commander to order an extra lone sniper or anyone else to repair something!!! It is not like we are limited to one kit per round or anything. If the sniper dies then, for the teams sake, he changes kits to engineer (or grabs one somewhere) and does his job. The only thing a little teamwork hurts are personal stats. lol go figure...  If someone is too fussy to change kits then they should go nap nap time until they feel better.

Besides how many people stay with one kit the whole game every game? In Karkand we often need to change kits with the changing pace and flow of battle. People need to be more agile mobile & flexibile and focus not purely on personal stats but give at least a minute or two for team success also.

Maybe rule #11 could be... Be flexible, helpful and trust others a little, be ready to get the hard kit changing assignments for the Team's sake.  Someone (hopefully) is aware of one city block around the Hotel but the squad leader is (hopefully)  aware of 3 square blocks and the commander (hopefully) is aware of 20-30 square blocks, edge to edge.

Maybe we should start with letting people join squads. (ok I must admit 1/4 of my playtime is lone wolf. But that isn't because I don't want to, but I often forget to join/create/apply) Maybe a good thing would be to let people automaticcaly join a squad... no maybe not.. reminding them to join a squad when they die would be better.

You where killed
time to spawn: 7
Don't forget to join a squad!! or whatever

PERFECT!!!

I have had a commander order me to repair somthing when I was a sniper.  Although he did it through VOIP as I was a squad leader (lone wolf still because no one would accept an invite).  He asked because I was the only one who followed directions so far.

I suicided, repaired and defended the base for a few min with the commander telling me exactly where each enemy was and what they were doing.  Stole an M95 from an enemy sniper and resumed splattering brains.
