What age did you realise that you wanted kids? Because I'm 20 now, which I'm aware is still fairly young, and I'm convinced I never want kids. Some of my friends reckon that I'll change my mind on this, but I'm not so sure. Did any of you feel the same way?
I regard myself as too selfish to have children.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I'm 23 next month and I've said for a while that I want kids before I'm 30.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
Ghetto, don't be going all fatherly on me!
I'm 19 and I want kids. 1 son and 1 daughter
Of course when I'm in my 20's is when I would actually want them, mid 20's 2 b exact

In my thirties
Are you in a committed relationship, ghetto? If not, I'd say wanting kids may not kick in for you til then. Of course, for some, it never does. I'd say you're just like the vast majority of 20 year old men. At this point you want to experience all life has and may view children as tying you down. When they are small, they do to a degree. However, parenthood is very rewarding. The fun doesn't stop, though there are realities that do occupy a lot of your time.
I knew I wanted to have kids at around 16. Now I didn't want them right at THAT moment but I knew that when I found the right woman that I would want to have a family with her. I married at 22 and was a father at 24. I wasn't fully on board when my wife started talking about a second child, but over time I warmed to the idea and our daughter was born almost 3 yrs to the day after our son.
Summary: Everyone's life and circumstances are unique. Don't let anyone tell you when you should be ready, if ever. Don't rule out the idea all together. Fatherhood is amazing.

At 20, I have no desire for children, but that may change
My Sister had her first Son when I was 11, I reckon by the time her second came along I was 14 and knew then what I already did that I wanted kids. I did the 18-30 stuff when I was 23 and 18 months later became a Dad myself unplanned. Mollie is 8 already, and Im ready for another. I've been with my Gf for 7/8 months and we are both ready, the only thing stopping us is her attitude towards doing it correctly. She wants £6k upfront (to get liposuction afterwards ) and a bigger house.
One of the last things Mum told me was
I wouldn't try and plan to have kids unless you have the money and careers, dip ya wick and see what happens. If it's men't to then it will happen.

and this has been proven plenty in the last 3 years. Yeah I'd like to plan correctly as my other Sister did first, she did Uni/Career first, saved up then spent £10k on IVF, almost gave in and discovered they were having twins. My other Sister had kids, was skint and works with me in the family biz. My other Sisters's hubby just been laid off, they still have £300k mortgage to pay.things always work out right now matter how messey they seem

I'm 22 and pretty immature, can't see myself ever wanting kids.

..Not right now though, obviously.
Antonia and I talk about having children on a regular basis now, scary huh. But I guess the idea of being a parent started to appeal to me about 2 or 3 years ago.
Maybe 10-15 years time
Babies are the devil incarnate and should be slayed at or before birth.

I think about getting married before I think about having kids. Having children is one of those events that happens after the "I think I'll get married in my late 20's" statement.
