The title says it all.

Basically, its obvious that even full time at minimum wage won't pay you enough to have an above-average financial life even if you save it all.

So, My question is does anyone else do other things to make cash? Im 100% for a type of job that pays for the amount of work done instead of hours spent.

What jobs or hobbies do you guys make money from aside from the typical 40h/week labor.

I don't think my job deserves a decent wage i dont do much. And i still dont think the government should decide what my employer pays me. I don't plan on being an employee my whole life.

They are paid by the hour.

Mitch, fishing boats in Australia you normally get a percentage of profits from the catch. Starter 'wage' is about 7%, experienced guys can get upwards of 14%, skippering somebody's boat can net you up to 30%. Only job I've had where we were paid by product instead of by hours. Then again if you worked out the hourly rate it would be absolute shit.

And a mate of mine on apprentice wages (he's an apprentice turner & fitter) buys old bikes/cars and rebuilds or replaces dead transmissions/powertrains etc and sells them on at a profit. He's loaded because of it.

You could always buy a farm Mitch, don't farmers get insane levels of subsidisation from the US Fed govt?

I hold 3 jobs. I work at Trader Joe's, construction (occasionally), and with the Forest Service. And I still don't have any cash.

Demolition, framing, and some tilework. I also tried my hand at drywall hanging... Which I didn't like one bit. I do construction *maybe* 8 hours a month. I don't remember the last time I did it though.
