Wow thanks for the replies, my record collection will be expanding this weekend I can tell you that much. Forgot about 'at the drive in' (thanks Uzique). I meant to check out Andy McKee a while back, i remember Ty posted some YouTube clips, absolutely amazing. I must get Spotify and check out some of the other albums posted, many artists i've never heard of, perhaps cos they exist in genres i've yet to explore.

Keep it up!

I think imma say....

Led Zeppelin: Best of Led Zeppelin
Fleet Foxes: Fleet Foxes
Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits

Greatest hits due to it being hard to pick out a single album by them (Led & D Straits), and I actually enjoyed both of them (I normally prefer the studio albums over the greatest hits kind of things).

yeah - I'm boring.

Yes, a very difficult question.

1) Rush Hemispheres
This is the pinnacle of 70's rock opera theme albums. It is also the album I learned to play guitar to. It still kind of freaks my wife out that I know all the guitar solos, play the bass note for note and can do a good half assed imitation on drums of the whole freaking album.

2) Pink Floyd The Dark Side Of The Moon
While not my most Floyd favorite album it remains as the album in the top forty for the most years. David Gilmores guitar tone and solos are unmatched in all of rock and roll, imo. So for various reasons it makes my list as one of the greatest recordings of all time. Plus, getting wated and watching The Wizard of Oz while listening remains one of the must-do stoner experiences evar.

3) U2 The Joshua Tree

Song after song was made of win.
Joshua Tree is a place close to my home and heart.

Hmm. This is harder than I thought.

I can say that some of my favourite albums are not by my favourite artists, though.

Thats cool, the thread is entirely about what your top three favourite albums are, they're not meant to be a statement about the genre of music you listen to. It's about the album as a whole, an expertly compiled list of tracks that you simply never grow tired of listening to.

My favourite Razorlight album, some of the songs you just can't get out of your head.

Andy Burrows- The colour of my Dreams

Probably the best £10 i ever spent. Even if the album is only 15 minutes long. Always calms you down after listeing to it.

OK, these 3 probably won't be the best, but they certainly are three albums I can listen to over and over again.

Amon Tobin - Splinter Cell-Chaos Theory Soundtrack
https://www.lookpic.com/files/folder73.jpg
I think the game becomes good Through this soundtrack, but the soundtrack itself is just awesome. I don't think there's much more out there that can carry feelings like this album.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell
https://www.lookpic.com/files/folder74.jpg
An awesome mixture of Rock, Pop, Experimental and I don't know what else. The singer's voice is outstanding and the beats are fresh. Sadly enough, the two newer albums aren't even remotely close to this one.

Kings Of Convenience - Riot on an empty Street
https://www.lookpic.com/files/folder75.jpg
Now this is pure pop music. Whenever I want to relax propery, this is the perfect album for it. They really live up to their name. Some of you may have heard of Erlend Oye (my keyboard doesn't know the proper characters for the name), this was one of his projects. Feist does the vocals on a few songs.

I wondered about a top ten but i was actually thinking about making 'your top ten favourite tracks of all time'.

It's great to see how many people posted with enthusiasm, I know a thread like this only has a certain shelf life, but all the same, it's great to find new music and remember albums you'd maybe forgotten.

Thanks to all those who posted and those who will continue to post
