I had to move a few months ago and had to get rid of a lot of stuff including my PC, outdated anyways P4 2.0.  Saved my hard drives though. Can't play BF2 on my craptastic laptop : (

So its been a little while since I've been up on the tech changes.

I've been piecing some components together. So far I got a Core 2 Duo E5200, OCZ 500 Watt PSU and a Antech 300 case. In looking through mobos and ram I'm throughly confused. DDR2 or DDR3 ram? 45nm or 65nm mobos WTF is that. Video cards forget about it, I had a 6800 GT and now I see they've gone way past that. And I need a monitor and theres way to many to choose from....

So any one have a recommendations for a good vid card ($170), mobo/ram and a decently priced monitor?

Any input would help me immensely.

DDR2, 65nm, and take a look at ati's 48xx series, specifically the 4850, 512mb. Monitors look at Samsung stuff in your price range. Wait for someone like DU or Max to reply though, they actually know what they're talking about, unlike me

Why on earth would we want to know that? Of course he wants a 220" projected display and 96GB special-made GDDR5. Isn't that obvious?

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Yes, that was sarcastic and aimed at the OP.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Something like that if you want to wait for the other card suggested to come back in stock it is better then mine.
