I'd prefer input from American users, since they have experience with US cell carriers.

I'm debating the following phones:

Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 (or whichever one has Wi-Fi)
Pros: I'm used to SureType with my current normal Pearl, it has wi-fi and supports UMA (calling over the internet with wifi, uses no minutes)
Cons: No 3G

Blackberry Curve 8900 (the newest one)
Pros: Very nice screen, powerful device, has WiFi and UMA
Cons: No 3G

Blackberry Storm
Pros: Big screen, it's actually quite good with the latest firmware apparently, dual mode so I can use it in the US & abroad (as opposed to most Verizon phones)
Cons: Still not the most solid firmware, no wifi

Blackberry Bold
Pros: Nice screen, WiFi AND 3G
Cons: No UMA, and you have to be with AT&T

The Flip and the Curve are both on T-mobile, and I would sign up for UMA calling. I travel to Chile a lot and I'm often in a wi-fi area... so I'd like to call friends in the US without getting raped by international roaming. However, the two phones don't have 3G. I don't see it as a huge deal since I don't do heavy downloading on my phone, just Facebook and NY Times. Also, Tmobile doesn't have the strongest network in the US.

The Storm lets me stay on Verizon, which I currently use. Verizon's also the best provider in the DC area, and I do admit that their network is quite good. The dual mode antenna also lets me use the phone abroad; however I'd have to pay international roaming charges. It's also a fair bit pricey, and has no wifi.

The Bold would seem to have the best of both worlds. It does have wifi as well as 3G. However I'd have to use AT&T which isn't very good IMO, and there is no UMA calling. The screen also isn't as nice as the Curve's.

So what are your thoughts? Anybody have experience with these phones?

Can you actually make calls with any of those?

Get a phone, then get one of these new small laptops. To. Be. Honest.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Flip is shit, my aunt has it.
Curve is sexy, my uncle has one.
Bold is even sexier, my other uncle has one.

But I've heard so much good stuff about the storm, so it's between the storm and bold tbh.

Curve all the way. You probably can stop by the local cafe or latch onto wifi if you need FB or NYT. And the curve has the sexy factor. And the pretty screen. Saves you money with wifi internet and UMA, important in a recession.

Have you used it or are you just repeating what you've heard? Not trying to be rude but it's like Vista. It had a shitty start but it's fine now... it just got such bad press at the start that it has a bad reputation.

@OrangeSMG I just like Blackberries. Plus a few of my friends have them, and I'd rather use Blackberry Messenger instead of using up my texts.
