Well I don't really need to maximize the EVs for every stat on every pokemon. Giving a guy like Gyrrados special attack is worthless, and many pokemon have some stats that are naturally so high that painstaking EV training won't make that much a difference.

And plus of all my friend that I battle only one of them knows about EVs, STAB and natures, but he is making all his pokemon rock types and I have four guys that get STAB from water, ground, and plant.

max out EVs anyway.  it doesn't take too long with power items and PKRS.  the hardest part imo is getting good IVs.  you'll hatch countless eggs and do level 100 battles to check IVs with a IV calculator countless times...just for the one nearly perfect pokemon.

I think I'll be okay with doing some basic EV training and getting a good nature. I know that I could make a prefect team if I do it right, but I would rather enjoy the game.

I hope that having your stater follow behind you is optional.

It was kinda annoying in Yellow.
